Understanding Hajj Packages

Shifting vs. Non-shifting

Before exploring the various packages, it’s essential to assess your specific requirements. Your personal preferences—such as travel dates, accommodation preferences, and mobility considerations—will serve as the foundation for selecting the most suitable package.

All Hajj packages fall under two primary categories: Shifting and Non-Shifting packages. Each category offers different levels of accommodation—luxury, premium, and standard—primarily determined by hotel type. Additionally, both categories provide the flexibility to start the journey in either Madinah or Makkah.

1. Shifting Packages

Shifting packages are an excellent option for pilgrims who prioritize staying in Mina throughout the Manasek of Hajj. This category is designed to reduce accommodation costs in Makkah, as hotel rooms are not retained during the Manasik period. Most pilgrims will check out of their Makkah hotel either on the night of the 7th or the morning of the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah (DH) and transfer to Mina.
Key Features:
  • Accommodation: Hujjaj are provided with accomodations in Mina and have access to an Aziziya apartment hotel from the 7th to the 13th of DH, offering a convenient place to rest and store belongings.
  • Luggage Management: Large luggage is securely stored in Aziziya, with access available during the Hajj days. Pilgrims are encouraged to bring only a carry-on bag to Mina, while their larger items remain accessible during visits to Aziziya.
  • Transportation: For those staying in Majar Al Kabsh, a dedicated shuttle service to Aziziya is available for the duration of Hajj. However, transportation services may not be available for the AlMuasim camp, requiring pilgrims to plan accordingly.
Shifting packages offer a balance of affordability and convenience, making them ideal for those who prefer a more immersive Hajj experience in Mina while still having access to essential amenities in Aziziya.
Popular Shifting Package Options:
1. Madinah First, Makkah Before Hajj
  • Starts in Madinah to acclimate to the Hajj environment.
  • Pilgrims travel to Makkah for Umrah before beginning Hajj rituals.
  • Access to an Aziziya apartment during Hajj.
  • Ideal for: First-time pilgrims, the elderly, and those seeking a structured experience.
2. Makkah First, Madinah After Hajj
  • Begins with Umrah in Makkah, requiring pilgrims to wear Ihram upon arrival in Jeddah.
  • Preparations for Hajj in Makkah before moving to Mina.
  • Access to an Aziziya apartment during Hajj.
  • Ideal for: Experienced pilgrims, and those seeking a quiter Madinah after hajj.
3. Madinah First, Makkah After Hajj
  • Pilgrims start in Madinah, move to Makkah for Umrah, and proceed directly to Aziziya & Mina.
  • Makkah hotel accommodation available post-Hajj.
  • Ideal for: First-time pilgrims and those looking for a balanced experience.

2. Non-Shifting Packages

Non-shifting packages are designed for those who prefer to retain their hotel room in Makkah throughout the Hajj rituals (from the 8th to the 13th of DH). This option provides comfort and flexibility, allowing hujjaj to return to their hotel at any time.
Key features include:
  • Continuous access to a Makkah hotel room until the 14th of DH, easing the experience of Tawaf Al-Wadaa.
  • Shuttle services between the hotel and Mina twice a day (from the 10th to the 13th of DH), for those staying in Majar Al Kabsh. However, transportation services may not be available for other locations, requiring pilgrims to plan accordingly.
Popular Non-Shifting Package Options:
1. Makkah First with Hotel During Hajj and Madinah After Hajj
  • Starts with Umrah in Makkah, requiring Ihram before arrival.
  • Flexibility to proceed to Mina or directly to Arafat on the 9th of DH.
  • Ideal for: Experienced pilgrims and those preferring hotel comfort.
2. Madinah First, Makkah Before Hajj, and Hotel During Hajj
  • Pilgrims begin in Madinah for spiritual preparation before heading to Makkah for Umrah.
  • Retains hotel accommodation during Hajj for flexibility.
  • Ideal for: First-time pilgrims and elderly individuals seeking a structured experience.
3. Madinah First with Hotel During Hajj
  • Shortest available duration, beginning in Madinah with a transfer to Makkah for Umrah before Hajj.
  • Retains Makkah hotel room for added convenience.
  • Ideal for: Pilgrims with limited vacation time.

Choosing the Right Package
When selecting a Hajj package, consider the following:
1. Accommodation Preferences: Do you prefer staying in a hotel during Hajj, or are you comfortable with camp accommodations in Mina?
2. Travel Sequence: Would you like to start your journey in Madinah or Makkah?
3. Budget: Different package levels—luxury, premium, and standard—offer varying amenities and comfort levels.
4. Physical Needs: Ensure the package you choose aligns with your mobility and health requirements.
By carefully considering your needs and understanding the available options, you can select a Hajj package that offers the most spiritually fulfilling and comfortable experience for you.
