Istanbul

Once serving as the capital of the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires, Istanbul today is the largest city in Turkey and one of the largest in the world. Istanbul stretches across both sides of the Bosphorus, a narrow strait that connects Asia and Europe, making it the only city in the world spanning two continents. Impressive architecture, historic sites, dining, shopping, nightlife and exotic atmosphere all make Istanbul one of the world’s top tourist destinations.

The Old City is where most of the city’s impressive historic sites are found, which include the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Another important district is New City, known for its modern day attractions, skyscrapers and shopping malls. Beyoglu and Galata are popular zones for nightlife and entertainment, while the Bosphorus area is home to beautiful palaces, waterfront mansions and urban parks.

There is no shortage of exciting things to see and do in Istanbul. A shopping affair not to be missed is the Grand Bazaar, one of the world’s oldest and largest covered markets.

Sapanca

Nestled in the stunning countryside of Turkey, located approximately 130 kilometers (about 81 miles) southeast of Istanbul. Sapanca beckons with its tranquil charm and breathtaking natural beauty. Surrounded by lush forests, serene lakes, and picturesque mountains, Sapanca offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Visitors can indulge in leisurely strolls along the scenic lakeside promenade, take in the mesmerizing views from observation points, or enjoy a boat ride on the pristine waters of Lake Sapanca. Adventure seekers can explore the nearby hiking trails or partake in thrilling water sports. With its delightful blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure, Sapanca promises an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking solace in nature’s embrace.

Bursa

Bursa, Turkey’s fourth-largest city, is located in Anatolia at the foot of Mount Uludag, which is shrouded in mystery and legends. Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire from 1326 to 1363.

It is a modern, thriving city with a great many historical sites dating from the Ottomans and before, which you can enjoy without having to cope with the masses of tourists that often make a visitor’s life in Istanbul difficult.

Conveniently located toward the western end of the Silk Road, Bursa is famous for its silk market and gorgeous silk products. Add to this the Green Mosque, the origin of Turkey’s shadow theater, the original Iskender Kebab, and plenty of parks and green spaces which also gave Bursa the name Green Bursa, and you’ll see why this is one of my favorite places in Turkey to visit, and why you should go, too.

Konya

Take a fascinating trip to Konya, a city full of history and cultural importance. It’s where the famous poet Rumi is buried and where the mesmerizing Whirling Dervishes come from. Konya shows how Turkey has a rich history.
Konya was extremely important when the Seljuk Empire was around, and it still attracts travelers today with its charm. Before getting to Konya, you will visit Sogut to see the tomb of Ertugul, an important figure in Turkish history. The Whirling Dervishes dance is an optional tour for the evening.
The streets of Konya are lively with events, and lots to see. There are parks like Kugulu Park and Meram and Karaaslan Hadimi Parkı that are peaceful spots to check out. You can learn about history at the Mevlana Museum, feel spiritual at Aziziye Cami, and imagine what it was like for traders at the Caravanserai. And don’t miss the view from Alaeddin Hill. Get ready for an amazing adventure in this magical city!

Cappadocia

Welcome to Cappadocia, a mesmerizing region in central Turkey renowned for its otherworldly landscapes, ancient history, and unique cultural heritage. Carved by nature over millions of years, the surreal rock formations, known as fairy chimneys, dot the horizon, creating a landscape unlike any other on Earth. Explore underground cities, hidden cave churches adorned with Byzantine frescoes, and ancient rock-cut dwellings as you delve into the rich history of the region. Marvel at the breathtaking sunrise during a hot air balloon ride over the picturesque valleys and towering rock formations, offering a panoramic view of Cappadocia’s ethereal beauty. With its blend of natural wonders and historical treasures, Cappadocia promises an unforgettable journey through time and enchantment.
